I’m here to support you in reaching your fitness goals while discovering the mental and physical benefits of a consistent yoga practice.
Kia Locksley
My journey in yoga began in 2002. I saw someone practicing yoga on TV while living in Florida. It sparked my interest because of the physical contortions. I was a gymnast until a growth spurt at age 14 ended my dreams of competing at the college level. Yoga was attractive because some of the same contortions were similar to gymnastics. Once I took my first class, I was hooked.
I’m an E-RYT 500, and YACEP Yoga Instructor. I have a passion for yoga and its many benefits. I focus on power, vinyasa flow, yoga for athletes, and yin. I teach high school and college athletic teams as well as professional athletes. I also teach beginners to experienced yogis. I have been practicing yoga since 2002 and teaching since 2005. I received training through Yoga Love in Maryland. I also love teaching other fitness modalities such as functional strength and bungee fitness.
I began practicing yoga with fitness in mind, but later I developed a deeper passion for the mental and physical benefits.
After taking a break from my practice, due to the sudden loss of my 25 yr old son, I was able to find healing upon returning to my practice. The pain of losing my son Meiko brought me back to yoga. I found solace in my yoga practice and became curious about yogic philosophy and beliefs. Prior to that, yoga was a physical practice I did for exercise.
I have witnessed the healing power of my practice and seek to inspire the healing of the mind, body, and soul of others through yoga. I believe that being of service has also helped with the grieving process. I continue to serve, offering free yoga and meditation classes. I love spending time with my family, friends, and dogs. I also enjoy watching sports and being in nature.
